DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

The department of ICT is one of the most important departments in the Government College of Education. It supports B.Ed, M.Ed, and Integrated B.Ed-M.Ed programs. Besides teaching, the department provides technical support to other departments, the principal’s office, and the college library. The department currently comprises one faculty member and one local fund employee as an assistant.

Objectives

  • To help learners become competent and confident users of ICT who can make efficient, effective, and creative use of basic application software in their routine activities.
  • To encourage learners to become critical and reflective users of ICT who can evaluate the capabilities and limitations of technology.
  • To prepare learners for the society of tomorrow by making them adaptable users of ICT with openness and flexibility of mind.
  • To be able to adjust to future changes in technology.
  • To understand the use of computers in teaching and learning.

Infrastructural Facilities

The department has a well-equipped laboratory with state-of-the-art computer hardware and software. Hardware includes 20+ workstations connected through a server. The lab has smart panels, printers, scanners, routers, switches, and modems. Networking is through STAR topology and internet is via BSNL fibre connection (50-60 Mbps). Power backup is provided by a 10KVA online UPS. The lab is air-conditioned for comfort during class and lab hours.
